Winnipeg missionary shares how God is moving in South America

Winnipeg missionary Pamela Walford is helping bring sustenance to bodies and souls in South America through ministry.

"Right now we are working with a food bank, that's initially how we got started," says Walford, lead missionary with Tru Pasi. "Now it's much broader than that. Tru Pasi is Surinamese for True Path. This ministry is focusing on reaching out to the neediest people in Suriname, and meeting their needs so they can see the love of Jesus."

Winnipeg school recognizing Mennonite milestones, celebrating community

It's been 150 years since Mennonites first came to Manitoba and one Winnipeg school is reflecting on the history and working towards a peaceful future.

"It's an exciting milestone for all Mennonites, not just our school," says Judson Rempel, the Director of Community Relations and Marketing with Winnipeg Mennonite School. "There are two things going on. It's been 150 years since the first Mennonites landed here in Manitoba. They landed down at the Rat River and Red River. We're recognizing that milestone and what's happened since then."

Faith over fear: Winnipeg ministry heading to countries with high Christian persecution

A local ministry is heading across the ocean to share the gospel in some countries that face high Christian persecution.

"My first challenge was to share the gospel with 50 people in Canada," says Lin, who felt God leading her to share her faith in a tangible way. "The second challenge is, I need to encourage 1,000 Christians to pray for their role in the Great Commission. The name of the project is 'Go for God 50/50 Challenge.'"

The idea came to Lin while she was praying when COVID-19 had many people shut in their homes.

BLVRS creating music for younger Christian generation

Two young Christian artists from Canada and the U.S.A. have come together to release Christian music for the youth of today.

"I'm a producer in BLVRS, Jordan is the vocalist," says Owen Bloomfield. "I do co-writing with him. It's a very cool God-story of how we got started. We essentially got paired up. If any of you know Matthew Parker in the Christian music space, EDM/pop artist. I got connected with him through a remix contest he was hosting. He liked what I was doing. He started connecting me with his friends. Jordan and I paired up and started doing a song every year."

Steve Bell calling Christians to love in 'Dangerous Time'

Juno-award-winning Winnipeg Christian artist Steve Bell is releasing a new single ahead of his 23rd studio album, The Glad Surprise.

"Right around the time Russia invaded Ukraine, Bruce Cockburn's song, 'Lovers in a Dangerous Time,' started rolling around in my brain," says Bell. "He wrote it during the Cold War when he had a lot of fears for his daughter and her friends, what their future might be. Now, with many, many wars going on, love ends up being a miracle."

From Nashville back to Niverville: Jordan St. Cyr talks homecoming concerts

Three years ago Jordan St. Cyr moved him and his family down to Tennessee. This week he'll perform in his hometown of Niverville for the first time since the move to a sold-out crowd.

"We wanted to do something special, in Niverville, just to really honour all the relationships that have helped us get to where we are here," says St. Cyr. "I'm blown away by the response. It's going to be a beautiful night of worship and celebrating what God has done in our lives and what His desire is to do in each one of our lives."

'Waking us up to the wonder of who God is': Author talks new book and life on a boat

Christian author Grace Fox recently released her newest book that talks about the power in the different names of God.

"It's got seven names of God, the Hebrew names, and doing a deep dive into, where did they first show up in the Old Testament and what was the context," says Fox. "I described a story from my own life, how I've experienced God by that name, and then how did Jesus fulfill that name to show that He was truly God."

The book, Names of God: Living Unfraid, is best read as a group, according to Fox.

Brad Schollengberg was a pastor of Peace Lutheran Church for 30 years before a diagnosis of Pulmonary Fibrosis made him stop working.

"There are other diseases that can lead to Pulmonary Fibrosis, such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Myocitis, and now there's talk of even long COVID being a risk."
