The 903 Strathmore Air Cadets held a special parade on Wednesday, May 7.
The event featured drills, promotions, and announcements of future events.
"Tonight is a bigger evening. All of the cadets are in their blue uniforms," said Training Officer Chantelle Callan. "They're dressed top-notch, spiffy, and they've done their hair and looked after their boots."
The event also served as a stepping off point for Warrant Officer Kaylee Graham, who has been with the Strathmore Cadets for over six years.
"I was always interested in the military. When I saw the cadets at a Remembrance Day parade, it really sparked my interest," said Graham. "I went to see the program, and I absolutely fell in love with it."
She described her leaving as "bittersweet", talking about how the program taught her to be a stand-up member of the community andĀ helped her to develop discipline and public speaking skills.
"It was something that I enjoyed so much that I just ended up sticking around," added Graham. "You create a family here. You grow these connections and friendships."
As for what comes next, Graham will be going to college for nursing before joining the military to be a medical officer.
"This is a great program, and I encourage young people to give it a try."
