McHappy Day proved to be a very successful day in Steinbach on Thursday.
That is according to Operations Supervisor Doug Demler, who explains that McHappy Day raises money for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
"Everything they get is from donations," says Demler.
According to Demler $8,240.04 was raised at the Steinbach restaurant on McHappy Day. That is up 24 per cent over last year.
Demler explains that 10 per cent of all sales on McHappy Day go towards the Ronald McDonald House. In addition, 10 cents from every Happy Meal sold throughout the year goes towards the Ronald McDonald House. Other donations come from customers who are given the opportunity to round up their bill, to the nearest dollar.
Demler says Thursday was a fantastic day.
"The community came out and supported us like they always do," he says. "We had a record hour over dinner. The biggest hour we've ever done."
Demler says even though it is a really busy day, the mood on McHappy Day is always very joyous, almost like a party atmosphere. He notes their staff have a fantastic time, the managers do a great job, they have helpful volunteers, plus the people of Steinbach come out to support the great cause.
"We couldn't do it without the great people of Steinbach coming to support," he says. "I just want to say thank you to the community of Steinbach and just for the support that they show us, not just on McHappy Day, but every single day. It's really, really appreciated."
