Grande Prairie RCMP Special Investigative Unit (SIU) have laid charges against two Grande Prairie men following an investigation into allegations of sexual assaults that occurred between August 2024 and December 2024.

On May 5, 2025, Grande Prairie RCMP received a report of sexual offences against a youth that allegedly took place between August and December 2024. The Grande Prairie RCMP SIU initiated an investigation into the allegations with assistance from the Grande Prairie Caribou Centre.

As a result, Julian Gonzalez (30) a resident of Grande Prairie has been charged with:

  • Sexual exploitation
  • Sexual assault (Two counts)
  • Choking while committing an assault
  • Assault
  • Possession for the purpose of publishing child pornography

The second male, Kyle Pele (23) a resident of Grande Prairie, has been charged with:

-Sexual assault (As party to the offence)

The Grande Prairie Public School Division has confirmed that Kyle Pele was an employee at Grande Prairie Composite High School but has since been suspended from the Division. 

The charge does not relate to any students or staff at the Composite High School.

Pele is not permitted to be on school property and is not working in the division or with division students.

Following a judicial hearing, Gonzalez and PELE were both released on conditions and will appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on May 29, 2025
