Unity RCMP responded to a range of incidents between May 6 and May 12, including a break and enter, reports of trespassing, suspicious activity, and ongoing investigations into assault and property damage.

Among the more serious incidents, a 21-year-old Unity man has been charged with break and enter with intent, resisting a peace officer, and failing to comply with an undertaking condition following a complaint of an unwanted individual at a residence.

Police also received a complaint of trespassing, during which officers located the suspect and executed an outstanding warrant. The vehicle involved in the incident was impounded.

A sexual assault complaint is currently under investigation, as is a report of a dog biting an individual and another complaint involving damage to a vehicle.

RCMP also responded to a report of a suspicious person in a rural area near Unity, but were unable to locate the individual. In a separate rural incident, officers transported an intoxicated individual to a residence, where they were released into the care of a sober adult.

In addition to these investigations, RCMP handled three traffic complaints and one false 911 call during the week.

Police are reminding residents in the Unity, Wilkie, and Macklin areas to report any suspicious activity by calling their local detachment. Anonymous tips can also be provided through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, 8477 on the SaskTel Mobility Network, or online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com. Crime Stoppers pays up to $2,000 for tips leading to arrests in serious cases.

RCMP also continue to promote Online Crime Reporting (OCR), which allows Saskatchewan residents to report non-emergency crimes conveniently through an online portal at: ocre-sielc.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/saskatchewan.

The tool can be used to report:

  • Frauds and scams under $5,000

  • Vandalism or property damage under $5,000

  • Lost or stolen property under $5,000

  • Non-emergency traffic complaints

  • Harassing phone calls or e-communications (excluding threats or sextortion)

RCMP note that if the reported incident involves a suspect or a witness, the public should contact their local detachment directly rather than using the online system.
