A structure fire north of Sprague Tuesday evening caused local firefighters to move swiftly, and the fire has been contained.
RM of Piney wrote in a press release that the structure fire had started along Rd 79E and Rd 6N, northwest of Sprague and had spread to the surrounding area.
It was noted that at the time, approximately 5 acres at burned, but RM fire crews, with assistance from Buffalo Point First Nation Fire Department, Sprague Fire Department, along with residents from the area, were working on containing the fire.
Then, shortly after 9:00 pm on Tuesday, the RM sent a message saying that the fire was being held.
In an update Wednesday morning, the RM of Piney noted that there were still a few hot spots within the burnt site, and that firefighters continue to work in those areas.
No further information is available at this time.
