A new addition is coming to Legion Park, as construction officially begins on a fully accessible memorial park pavilion—thanks entirely to a generous local family.

The project is being fully funded by Body Bros. Farms as a tribute to the late father and uncle of the Body family. The structure will feature a covered roof, cement base, and a wheelchair-accessible path, along with four large picnic tables designed with accessibility in mind.

“It’s a project rooted in generosity and remembrance,” said Luseland town councillor Candice Kraft. “The Body family approached the town with this beautiful idea and offered to fund and build the pavilion as a memorial. It’s completely their initiative—we’re just thrilled to help make it happen.”

Construction started Monday, and the goal is to have the pavilion completed ahead of the grand opening of Luseland’s new swimming pool on May 30. While timelines may shift depending on weather and other variables, the excitement around the park improvement is already evident.

As crews begin work in the park, residents and visitors are being asked to exercise caution around construction materials and equipment.

“Legion Park is a well-used space, especially for families, so we’re reminding the public to stay aware of the machinery and give workers plenty of room,” said Kraft. “The operators will be taking every precaution, but we all need to be careful.”

Kraft said the pavilion will be a welcome feature in the community for years to come, offering a shaded, inclusive space for people to gather.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the Body family for their generosity,” she said. “This will be something that benefits the whole town.”

Updates on the project will be shared on the Town of Luseland’s Facebook page.
