In a rapidly evolving financial landscape, RIVR Financial is proving that trust, teamwork, and a little fun go a long way. Though the brand name RIVR Financial is relatively new – launched in 2021 – it’s backed by decades of experience. Over the years, Paul Reimer acquired several established financial advisory firms – some dating as far back as the 1980s. When he brought them together under the RIVR banner, it was about more than just a rebrand – it was about reimagining the future of financial advising.
"The biggest changes in this industry have come through technology and regulation," says Reimer. "Technology has increased efficiency and broadened our reach. And the regulatory landscape has made things safer for clients, though admittedly tougher for new advisors."
For Reimer, however, the true driver of success isn’t technology or compliance – it’s servitude.
“Be a servant. Make friends. Have fun. That probably sums up the way we do business,” he says. “We’ve built a tight-knit, team-focused environment, and that’s something I’m really proud of.”
While much of the financial industry has long encouraged the “lone-wolf”, Reimer sees strength in a team approach. His focus is on building and mentoring a collaborative team – a strategy he believes is both sustainable and increasingly rare.
“There’s a lot of grey hair in this business,” he jokes. “At 45, I’m the oldest person in the office. Which means we’re in a great position to absorb more client blocks from advisors looking to retire, and we’re excited to show our new and existing clients the way we care for them – and the fun we have doing it.”

That community-minded spirit will be on full display at RIVR Financial’s upcoming Open House on May 22nd. The event is shaping up to be part family fair, part fundraiser, and part office tour – with everything from bouncy castles and yard games to carnival fun and even axe throwing. But it’s all in support of a cause close to Reimer’s heart: Southeast Helping Hands.
“We’ve volunteered at our local food bank as a team and as a family,” says Reimer. “They’re passionate about making sure people have enough to eat, and they do a fabulous job. We just want to help.”
Donations to Southeast Helping Hands will be accepted on site – with a tasty incentive:
“Mini donuts in exchange for donations,” Reimer laughs. “I’d love to see someone drop a few $100 bills in there for a dozen. It’s all for a good cause.”
And why axe throwing?
Reimer grins. “I love Jesus. I love people. I love pushing boundaries. Last year we did slingshots at a golf tournament – I had to up the ante.”
With a new office, a growing team, and a vibrant community focus, RIVR Financial isn’t just guiding clients toward smart investments – they’re investing in people.
Whether it’s managing the group benefits of top Manitoba firms, discussing tax strategies with corporate clients, ensuring a family has enough cash upon an untimely event, or wealth management – Reimer says his at RIVR Financial serves with passion, and makes it fun along the way.
RIVR Financial’s Open House is May 22nd from 3:00pm until 7:00pm at 150 Highway 52 West, Steinbach. Everyone’s welcome! Come for the axe throwing, sip freshly brewed Stone City coffee, and support a great cause while you enjoy mini donuts. Learn more at rivrfinancial.ca.
