It's National Nurses Week, and a local pizza joint treated nurses to some pizza in celebration.

On Monday, May 12, Papa John's Strathmore location gave free pizzas to nurses at Strathmore District Health Services.

"We should always give back to the community. It's not solely for the profit. If you're doing a job or running a business, there should always be something you give back," said Aksh Singh, owner of the Papa John's.

"The hard work the nurses put in to help people with their medical needs, and they stuff they go through every day and night; it's just a little bit of a thank you."

Since going under new management, Papa John's has been getting involved in Strathmore, working alongside other community groups such as the Strathmore Lions Club.

"We love the support from the community and we're open to any sponsorships, work, or help."
