The May Long Weekend will be here in no time, and odds are that you’re looking to get out of town and see the sights, perhaps do a little camping, or just take a nice long drive.

Your bags are packed, the destination has been chosen, and everything seems to be in order; there’s just one thing to consider: how much is the drive going to cost?

Thankfully, here in Saskatchewan, the price of regular gasoline has been quite stable since the pause on the consumer carbon tax was introduced a little over a month ago. According to GasBuddy.com, except for a few specific regions, motorists can expect to pay an average of 133.3¢ per litre across the province, the fourth cheapest in Canada, behind Ontario, Manitoba, and Alberta.

Here in Estevan, you’ll be paying 131.9¢ per litre before heading out on the road, a bit lower than most other Saskatchewan cities.

If you’re heading north, 135.9¢ per litre is the going rate for gas in Saskatoon as well. However, you may want to wait to fuel up if your trip takes you through the North Battleford area, which currently boasts some of the lowest gasoline prices in the province, sitting between 122.2¢ and 129.9¢ per litre depending on your station of choice. Meanwhile, Yorkton is on par with much of the province at 135.9¢.

Those headed even further north through Prince Albert to the ever-popular provincial parks near Waskesiu Lake, will be looking at prices between 129.9¢ and 133.9¢.

Going west? 134.9¢ is what you’ll be paying at the pump in Swift Current, and if headed to the Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, a stop in Maple Creek will run you 141.9¢ per litre.

There’s plenty to see in southern Saskatchewan too, and if you’re destination takes you below the Trans-Canada Highway #1 you can expect to pay 135.3¢ in Assiniboia or 127.9¢ in Weyburn.
