Saskatchewan's provincial parks are officially opening for the 2025 camping season on Friday, May 16, with new accommodations, events, and activities planned across the province.

"We are excited to welcome visitors for another incredible season in our beautiful provincial parks," said Alana Ross, minister of Parks, Culture and Sport. "Whether you want adventure, relaxation or time with family and friends, our parks create lasting memories while highlighting the beauty of Saskatchewan's natural environment."

Several new features are debuting this year, including additional glamping domes at Blackstrap Provincial Park, with more domes set to open at Echo Valley. Tipi-style cabins at Buffalo Pound and traditional tipis at Meadow Lake are also scheduled to open soon.

Boaters will see improvements at Elbow Harbour Recreation Site on Lake Diefenbaker, where more marina slips have been added. A new Trailhead Café will open May 15 at the Buffalo Pound Visitor Centre.

Visitors can expect a full slate of events and activities throughout the summer, ranging from guided hikes and paddle programs to live music and cultural festivals. A complete schedule and pre-registration information is available online at saskparks.com under the “Things to Do” section.

Discovery Packs, refreshed for the 2025 season, offer self-guided educational activities for all ages. Themes include “Soil Scientist” and “Marvelous Mammals,” aimed at teaching visitors about conservation, wildlife and Saskatchewan’s parklands.

Popular programs such as SaskExpress and Summer Cinema will return again this year. New events include Festival in the Forest at Meadow Lake, Prairie Day at Buffalo Pound and guided hiking experiences such as Hike the Heights at Cypress Hills and Into the Pines at Candle Lake. All events are included with a valid Park Entry Permit.

Park officials remind visitors to check for current fire bans and restrictions before arriving. Up-to-date safety information is available on the SaskParks website or by contacting the park directly.
