There are two candidates looking to be the 2025 Miss Strathmore Stampede.
1. Andrea Hunter
Hunter began riding with the Sundre Pro Rodeo Drill Team in 2022. Before that, she was involved in 4-H, team sports, and equestrian vaulting.
"As a teenager, she was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to become a member of the Alberta High School Rodeo Association from 2020 to 2024, when she graduated high school with honors," wrote Strathmore Stampede Royalty on social media.
Late last year Hunter began an electrician's course at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and is currently working towards her apprenticeship in Calgary before returning to school later this year.
Andrea hopes to use Miss Strathmore Stampede to inspire others and promote the sport of rodeo.
2. Aliera Chernoff
Chernoff was born and raised in Strathmore surrounded by the rodeo and agriculture lifestyle. She says this gave her a passion for horses, cattle, crops, and perseverance.
"She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Agribusiness at Olds College, building on her Agriculture Management Production diploma," wrote Strathmore Stampede Royalty.
Beyond academics, Chernoff is immersed in the western community, competing in barrel racing, rodeo events, and more. She has also represented Canada at international events such as the Youth World Reining Cup in Brazil.
"Her leadership roles as a 4-H member for eight years reflects her passion for mentorship and giving back to the industry that has shaped me," added the organization.
The Miss Strathmore Stampede competition will run from June 13 to 15.
