BATTLEFORDS, Sask. — RCMP are investigating two incidents that occurred around the same time Thursday morning on Highway 4, including a serious rollover and a reported firearm discharge.

Battlefords RCMP responded to a call around 9 a.m. on May 15 about a single-vehicle rollover near the Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation and Red Pheasant Cree Nation.

Four people were taken to hospital. Police say two sustained serious injuries, while the other two were treated for injuries described as non-life-threatening.

A Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

At the same time, Battlefords RCMP received a separate report of a firearm being discharged along the same stretch of Highway 4. Investigators are working to determine whether the two incidents are connected.

As part of the investigation, police were seeking the public’s help locating a white pickup truck believed to be linked to the firearm report. The truck has since been located.

RCMP caution the public not to approach the vehicle if seen, but to immediately report sightings or information to police by calling 310-RCMP. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.

RCMP say they will provide updates as the investigation continues. If any imminent threat to public safety arises, a public alert will be issued.
