For farmers, gardeners and firefighters attacking the wildfires in eastern Manitoba the much-needed rain over the last two days was very much welcomed, even if it did mean a soggy start to May Long weekend.

Residents in Steinbach and surrounding areas can expect cooler than average temperatures and gusty winds for Saturday along with lingering rain from Friday’s downpour.

Today’s high in Steinbach is expected to reach 7 C under mainly cloudy skies. Winds from the north will reach 30 km/h, gusting to 50 km/h. Tonight will see clearing skies with a low of 1 C.

Sunday will start with mostly sunshine and some clouds moving in during the afternoon, with a high of 12 C. Sunday night will be clear, with temperatures dropping to 2 C.

Victoria Day Monday will bring sunshine and a high of 15 C, followed by cloudy periods Monday night and a low of 4 C. On Tuesday, as we head back to work and school, a mix of sun and cloud is expected with a high of 17 C.
