LUSELAND, Sask. — The Luseland Police Service responded to a wide range of calls in April, including everything from impaired driving and mental health calls to school zone traffic violations and a fleeing suspect in a stolen vehicle.

In one incident, LPS officers assisted Saskatchewan and Alberta RCMP after a man fled from police in a stolen vehicle. Officers were also called to arrest an individual for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, resulting in an immediate roadside suspension.

Police received three separate general driving complaints along with a report of a motorist passing school buses. One motor vehicle collision and a grass fire were also reported.

Luseland Police responded to four mental health-related calls for service and performed four wellness checks during the month. Officers were also called to keep the peace during a family dispute.

A public intoxication call, a report of an injured moose, and a suspicious vehicle were among the other incidents police handled. They also responded to two separate reports of suspicious activity and an alarm call.

April also saw a number of bylaw complaints, including two related to animal control, one involving noise, and another concerning the unlawful discharge of a firearm or similar weapon within town limits.

A theft under $5,000 complaint was determined to be unfounded and the file was closed at the request of the complainant. Police also received one report of fraud and a report of an abandoned vehicle.

Luseland Police arrested and charged a male from Kindersley in relation to File #2024-224.

With warmer weather on the horizon, LPS is reminding residents to stay alert and stay safe as summer activities begin to ramp up. According to SGI, driver distraction continues to be a major factor in collisions across the province, accounting for an average of 3,480 crashes annually.

Anyone with non-emergency concerns or inquiries can contact the Luseland Police Service at (306) 372-4844 and leave a detailed message. For emergencies, residents are reminded to call 911.

“Our success stems from a community that looks out for one another,” the department said in a release. “Thanks, Luseland!”
