If life has felt a little overwhelming lately, the Emotional Wellness Expo at the Pat Porter Active Living Centre might be just what you need. Happening on Tuesday, May 20th in Steinbach, the event will showcase a variety of resources and services to help people manage stress and connect with local support. It will feature a variety of services, from traditional counseling to holistic approaches such as acupuncture, yoga, and aromatherapy.
Carrie Bilawchuk with the Pat Porter Active Living Centre says the idea stemmed from the recognition that many people are struggling with prolonged stress.
“Life has been stressful lately.” Bilawchuk says there are many things that are impacting people – from wildfires to the cost of living to global events – and they just want to let people know that they’re not alone and that there are resources available in the community.
Bilawchuk emphasizes that the event is not only for those currently facing stress but also for anyone wanting to learn more about the emotional wellness supports in the community.
“Education is key,” she says. “Even if it’s not for yourself, you never know when the information will come in handy for someone you care about.”
The expo will run from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Pat Porter Active Living Centre, located at 10 Chrysler Gate in Steinbach. Attendees can browse booths, speak with service providers, and explore various wellness practices in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
