The City of Grande Prairie begins neighbourhood canvassing on May 26, followed by exterior property photos from late June to August. This work ensures property records and tax assessments remain accurate and up to date.
“The neighbourhood canvassing helps us maintain accurate property records, which assists in creating property assessments that reflect market conditions while ensuring fairness and transparency for all residents,” said Scott Smith, Assessment and Taxation Director. “We appreciate the community's cooperation and understanding as we carry out this task.”
The photos and inspections are done every five years to create a record of any changes to properties over time.
Neighbourhoods being canvassed this year include:
- Bear Creek
- Cedarwood/Southwood
- Cobblestone
- Copperwood
- Cornerstone
- Countryside North & South
- Crystal Landing
- Downtown residential
- Fieldbrook
- Riverstone
- Smith
- South Patterson Place
Assessors will also be taking photos of the exterior of homes to update our files. All City Assessors will be in vehicles marked with a City of Grande Prairie badge and will have ID badges on hand. Canvassing will be ongoing throughout the summer and will conclude in late August.
