The Southeast Rotary Club’s annual Jailbreak Fundraiser was a success this year, bringing in donations and drawing attention to the club.

Rotary Club’s Jo-Anne Dalton says that the funds raised through their annual jailbreak event will make a great difference for the organizations they support. The event includes well known members of the community being 'arrested' and fundraising bail money for a good cause.

This year the proceeds go towards Southeast Helping Hands and the Ripple Effect Program.

“It can really support to have an organization like South Eastman Rotary come together and have a unique and fun way to fundraise some of those hard-to-raise dollars that are really critical in keeping the doors open”

By the end of the day the club had raised $20,000 and funds will continue to pour in until the end of the month.

Dalton is excited about the inquiries that the club has gotten regarding what it means to be a member and how the Rotary makes a difference in a fun way.

“We're just a group of people who get really excited to make a difference; who want to do something tangible; who want to work alongside other people who really care and want to see their communities and their impact around the world.”

The Rotary Club is the first and largest international service club. Dalton says that they believe in working locally and around the world to help families everywhere.

“We get to connect with other Rotarians around the world. So, you know, you walk around, you wear your Rotary pin, and you get recognized kind of anywhere you go, that you are part of something special”.

The fundraiser went right on track, bringing attention to Rotary within the community while raising funds locally and internationally.
