“If you’re into bull riding and rodeo, it’s a great, quality event. If you’re not into it, it’s something new, it’s entertaining, and you’re gonna end up loving it.”

The Hanover Ag Spring Twist Off is coming up on June sixth in Grunthal, and preparations have been in the works for months. From organizing volunteers and groundskeeping to stocking the canteen and maintaining the arena grounds, Hanover Ag Society sponsorship and marketing coordinator Brenda Levesque shares that countless hours have been put in by volunteers and staff to make sure this event goes forward without a hitch.

"Everything is done at a level that you would expect going to an event in a major city. But it’s in your backyard.”

The Spring Twist Off, like all Hanover Ag bull riding events, is a Bull Riders Canada-sanctioned event produced by Crossfire Bull Riding. This partnership results in very high quality, well-produced events where they pull out all the stops. In addition to bull riding, this year’s event will also include barrel racing.

“Summer’s not for a few weeks, but what we love about the Spring Twist Off is that it really gets the summer event season going.”

Levesque highlights the event’s family zone as a way of making the Spring Twist Off truly open to everyone. In this space, no alcohol is permitted, there will be space for children to play, stroller parking, and just a little extra room to breathe while you watch the event.

As for Party In The Dirt, it is all in the name.

“It’s quite literal,” says Levesque. “You watch the bull riding, then you stay and hang out and you party in the dirt where the bull riding was. This year, we’re doing it a little different- usually we would still have the Party In The Dirt and keep the beer gardens open. This year, we’re kind of flipping it into a bigger event- we’re having more of a social with Big Show Productions DJing.”

After several years of being part of the Hanover Ag Society, Levesque notes that her fondest memory comes every year when she stops to take a breath.

“Every year, when the sun starts to set a bit, and you have the nice little spring sunset. And the crowd is full. You kind of take a break and you look around, and you’re like ‘oh, this is a beautiful evening’. Happens every year.”

New this year is the steak dinner special provided by the Grunthal Lumber Grill- preorder yours here before May 31st to take your bull riding evening to the next level.

Fans of all ages are welcome to attend Hanover Ag’s Spring Twist Off on June 6 at the Keystone Agrimotive Livestock Arena in Grunthal, presented by The Rental House. Gates open at 5:30 PM with the show at 7:00 PM.

“It’s an exciting, welcoming experience right in our backyard. It’s something you really can’t replicate. You’re going to get a good time, good food, a good show. It’s a beautiful evening.”
