What started as a conversation between family members has grown into one of the region’s most trusted names in concrete and construction. Winmor Concrete & Construction, owned and operated by Willie Bergen, has steadily built a reputation for quality craftsmanship, professionalism, and customer satisfaction across the Pembina Valley.

“I’ve been around concrete work for many years,” says Bergen. “It looked like a rewarding, fun job, so I decided to go for it and never looked back.”

That decision came to life when Bergen and his brother-in-law saw an opportunity to invest in some equipment and take a leap of faith. Since then, the company has upgraded its tools, scaled its operations, and taken on projects both big and small.

“When we started, we focused mostly on smaller jobs and custom homes,” Bergen explains. “We still do those, but now we’ve grown to include large commercial projects – everything from backyard sidewalks to farm buildings, shops, and parking lots.”

What truly sets Winmor apart, according to Bergen, is a relentless focus on quality.

“No matter what type of job it is, we try our very best to deliver a product that will leave people impressed and satisfied,” he says. “Quality work means not cutting corners. It means going the extra mile to make sure it's done right — and to the customer's standards.”

That commitment has deep roots. Bergen credits much of his knowledge to hands-on learning and mentorship from experienced contractors early in his career.

“We learned from the best,” he says. “And through lots of trial and error, and fine-tuning our skills, we built a company I’m proud of.”

This high standard has resonated with clients, leading to an overwhelmingly word-of-mouth-based business model.

“I would have to say that pretty much all of the work we do is through referrals,” Bergen notes. “It’s a great feeling to know that our customers are happy enough with our work to recommend us to others.”

One of the most meaningful compliments he’s received?

“When customers praise my crew for being respectful, and for how clean and professional we keep our sites. Or when they call us back for more work – that’s how we know we did a good job.”

Despite years in the field, Bergen’s passion for the craft hasn’t faded.

“It’s different almost every day,” he says. “New sites, new challenges. We’re always learning. And really, concrete is a form of art – not many people can do it well, and that gives us a sense of pride.”

Looking ahead, Winmor is eyeing expansion into more agricultural and industrial concrete work, including potential roadwork projects.

“There’s always room to try something new,” Bergen adds.
