The clock is ticking towards a strike by Canada Post workers.

As people prepare for the possibility of a strike, many can draw off recent experience after last year's Canada Post work stoppage that lasted just over a month between November and December. That action during the holiday season caused headaches for many, not just people sending presents, but for many trying to just carry out day-to-day operations.

In a poll posted on Tuesday to WestCentralOnline, we tried to gauge the local public's reaction to another potential stoppage. While not everyone was directly affected by the 30+ days of frozen shipping, it did create some serious complications.

One small business owner mentioned they rely on the post office for customers, being forced to take a considerable loss on time and wages to setup alternative methods. One-person voiced frustrations about not receiving previously ordered parcels, another respondent mentioning they were unable to receive important Visa statements.

Asked to give thoughts on the current situation, one person pushed the mail service to the wayside by calling it a "dinosaur", another saying that it's time to privatize with the "unions too greedy".

Another answer pointed to the auto sector and workers that utilized job action and ended up losing employment. That same individual also doesn't feel the government is negotiating in good faith, bringing the topic back to privatization. The final answer of note was a simple problem of just becoming annoyed at the frequency.
