Artists with the Chestermere Fine Art Guild will be displaying their creative pieces at the Chestermere Rec Centre on Saturday, May 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“People express themselves through many different kinds of creative activities, and visual arts is one of them,” said Cathy Luby, president of the Fine Art Guild.
Happening annually since 2002, members show off and sell their art to raise funds for the Fine Art Guild’s supplies, workshops, and classes. A percentage of the money also goes into supporting the local artists.
“We try to get people together in order to help people express themselves through art. We support artists to learn and develop. We also open up classes to welcome people of all levels and from all walks of life in order to build community in Chestermere,” Luby explained, revealing the importance of local art.
Three of the guild members will have their art presented as a door prize to participants.
This year's art exhibition is sponsored by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and the City of Chestermere.
