Portion of Railway Street expected to remain closed throughout Saturday

A rail crossing and a portion of Railway Street in Kenora has been closed following today's collision between a train and tractor trailer.

The City of Kenora says, "the Railway Street rail crossing is closed to all traffic now and will remain closed on Saturday, December 4, to allow CP Rail to assess and repair an accident site."

Additionally, Railway Street, between Gould Road and Homestake Road, is also closed. Signs and barricades are in place.

The City does warn that the closure may be extended to Sunday, December 5, if necessary.

Around 11:50 Friday morning, a train hit a tractor trailer that was stuck on the railway crossing near Beaver Brae Secondary School. No injuries were reported.
