Clear skies outside as a nice sunny day sets up around Kindersley and area

What a difference a week can make — after a wet and rainy start to the work week seven days ago, the weather is setting up to be of the opposite variety around west-central Saskatchewan today and throughout the week.

Checking in with Environment Canada last week to get some rain totals following the gloomy weather, meteorologist Stephen Berg did warn us to be prepared for a noticeable warm-up around the region. The week is starting off with highs in the mid-20s but should approach the 30-degree mark by mid-week with highs of 31 on Thursday and Saturday being the warmest days.

With summertime like heat on the horizon it's the first time that the public will need to exercise some hot weather tips. Berg mentioned that people spending time outdoors should do their best to monitor how they are feeling, making sure to stay hydrated and seek shelter if you get too hot.

As for the hot mid-week weather Berg suggests getting the sunscreen out. If the forecast stays to plan Saturday could be a scorcher, a perfect send-off into June as we remain well above seasonal temperatures of 21.

Seasonal lows, typically 7 degrees this time of year, are also well above normal at the moment with consistent lows between 10-14.
