The Clearwater Drive-In Theatre is officially open for the season, with some larger-than-life films lined up.
Last weekend, they started the year with A Minecraft Movie, which has been dominating the box office. This weekend, they are playing The Wild Robot for audiences up at the lake, and anyone who makes the drive.
Denise Kelk, owner of the Clearwater Drive-In Theatre, will keep the film rolling with major releases this summer like the live-action Lilo and Stich, Elio, and Jurassic World Rebirth.
"(My husband and I) love seeing how excited the families are to come out while staying at the lake, taking in a movie over the weekends," said Kelk. "They're always calling to see what we're playing and arranging their weekend at the lake around a movie that they would like to see."
The Clearwater Drive-In Theatre is one of the last few in the province. The timeless experience of watching a truly big screen while sitting in the comfort of your own vehicle is one fewer people get to enjoy each year and is luckily less than an hour away from Swift Current.
"It's pretty fantastic," said Kelk. "We've worked hard a lot of years to keep this going through technological upgrades, the digital changes, and every year it seems to just keep getting better and better."
