A Steinbach man was ticketed due to a two-vehicle collision Monday afternoon just north of Altona.

There were no serious injuries in the collision at the corner of Highway 30 and PR 201.

Pembina Valley RCMP, along with Altona Rhineland Emergency Services and EMS, were dispatched around 1:45 pm.

The investigation revealed a westbound SUV was stopped at the stop sign on 201, and then made a southbound turn onto Highway 30 in front of the semi truck driven by a 19-year-old male from Holland. The semi truck driver tried to avoid the collision, but did not have enough time to stop, and rear-ended the SUV, propelling it into the west ditch.

Both drivers were assessed at the scene by EMS, but were not transported to hospital.

The 54-year-old male driver of the SUV from Steinbach was issued a ticket under the Highway Traffic Act for proceeding when unsafe to do so.

Drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the collision.
