BIGGAR, Sask. — Residents of Biggar can expect a jam-packed June as community groups, clubs and facilities gear up for a month full of crafts, culture, and good old-fashioned prairie fun.
From the return of the Biggar Old Time Music Festival to the colourful displays at the Fibre Fair, the town is set to showcase its community spirit with a wide range of events for all ages.
The Family Centre kicked off the month with sign language classes on June 2, that being followed by back-to-back craft clubs for kids and tweens on June 3. Clothing exchanges will also return on June 7, 14, and 21 — a staple of the Family Centre’s community programming.
The Biggar Library and New Horizons Centre will be hubs of activity with events like PJ Storytime (June 5), Teen Night (June 12), and a Senior Craft session (June 18). New Horizons also has a full social calendar with tea, bingo, potlucks and cold plate lunches scheduled throughout the month.
June’s marquee attractions include the Biggar Old Time Music Festival from June 6 to 8, Biggar & District Fair Days from June 13 to 14, and the Biggar Ag Days and Red, White & Gold Slot Race and Jackpot, both taking place June 28 and 29. The Show & Shine Car Show will also roll into town on June 15.
For golfers, the Biggar Golf Club hosts its Par 3 Tournament on June 20. Meanwhile, fibre enthusiasts will flock to the Biggar Fibre Fair on June 14.
Regular weekly programming continues to bring people together, with pickleball, exercise groups, card games, quilting, stitching and museum activities spread across town. Seniors have plenty of opportunities to stay active and social at New Horizons and the Town Hall exercise groups.
Organizers encourage residents to check local bulletin boards and social media for full event details, and to come out and enjoy what Biggar has to offer.
Whether you're a crafter, dancer, car enthusiast or just looking to connect with neighbours, June in Biggar promises something for everyone.
