The Community Exchange in Altona has the goal of breaking down fiscal barriers to connect the community and they are doing exactly that this weekend with their first ever Block Party! Check out all the fun they have planned below.

The Chatterbox
TCE Executive Paul Peters also commented on something pretty cool they will be running alongside the Block Party, it's called "The Chatterbox", "And then we have the chatterbox, which is an old bowler camper, turned into a recording space. So it's going to be a bunch of students from a communications class in the city coming out and they're going to be running, it's called The Great Canadian Neighbor Contest, bringing it back from about 20 years ago. We're encouraging people to come out and share their story about why they've got the best neighbors. It's your physical neighbors, so if you live in an apartment building, it's anyone above below in your building. If you live in a single dwelling home, it's somebody beside you across from you, come, tell us why you've got the best neighbors. The benefit to doing it is we are going to pick out of a hat, a number of the folks who share their story and then that night, we're going to go give prizes to the neighbor nominated.
So that's the fun in it, right? You're gonna come in, you're gonna share a story about why your neighbor is the best, we're going to pick their name, we're going to bring them the prize, and you get to be there to deliver that prize with them. Thankfully, due to some great support, those stories will be shared here on Golden West in the month of June."
BBQ & Music
Paul Peters continued, "In terms of the meal, there'll be a BBQ. It'll be a BBQ community meal. It's on May 31st, so typically we'd be running our community meal that night anyways, so the block party kind of replaces that. So please come out, Free meal, join us! In terms of the stage, it's a group called 'Second Street', they are a local cover band, so I I'd say yeah, come on out and enjoy"
