Founded 40 years ago, the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba exists so that all Manitobans affected by dementia receive the help they need today and have hope for the future. As a province-wide organization, the Society seeks to achieve its mission through community awareness; individual, family and professional education; support programs and research funding. Their biggest fundraiser of the year is coming up on Wednesday (June 4th) in Altona with the Walk for Alzheimer's!

The Community Exchange in Altona has the goal of breaking down fiscal barriers to connect the community and they are doing exactly that this weekend with their first ever Block Party! Check out all the fun they have planned below.

Gemma Perdomo is seven years old, calls Gretna home and absolutely loves nature. She is trying to become the 2025 Jr. Ranger! The Jr. Ranger Competition is a nationwide adventure for kids ages 4-12 who love the great outdoors. One young explorer will earn $20,000, appear in a Ranger Rick Jr. magazine and learn from wildlife expert Jeff Corwin—who’s also hosting the competition!

It's been years in the making for our Made in Manitoba guest, Altona's Maxine Jade (Maxine Penner off-stage) has been writing songs and poetry for many years but finally found her way into a professional studio and with the help of Andrew Braun and Laura Smith crafted her first ever album "A Collection of Affection"

It's been going strong for 35 years, the Ecole West Park School Clean-a-Thon in conjunction with Blue Sky Opportunities. The next one is coming up tomorrow! (May 16th).

Local music and information were both front and centre at the second annual Fruit Jam fundraising concert in support of the Altona Community Action Network!

Their team provides a wide range of personalized services tailored to the unique needs of each individual, committed to making a positive impact on the lives of seniors and their families and you can support them on Monday (May 12th) with their pulled pork fundraiser!

It's been many years in the making for Altona's Maxine Penner (Maxine Jade on-stage) when it comes to her debut album, titled "A Collection of Affection" it features many songs that started as poetry, which she later added music to, some songs that have been waiting to see the stage for years and some that are recent creations with the help of some musical friends.

Demand is higher than ever at food banks across Southern Manitoba, but a group of Altona churches have banded together the past couple years to help out the best they can! This year is no exception; they are gearing up yet again to go door to door and pick up your non-perishables tomorrow! (May 7th).
