Anthony MOSER Obituary
March 27,1934 - May 25,2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anthony D. Moser beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather at the age of 91 years. Tony was the youngest surviving sibling of 11 children. Tony’s family settled on a farm near Major. He attended school nearby at Nichol then at Victory school completing his grade 8. Farm work was the priority then and it was there that he spent the rest of his life working on the mixed farm. The farm contained an assortment of animals from chickens to pigs, cows, and of course horses. Tony met Josephine Kruesel and they married in 1956 and together they raised 4 children.
Anthony is survived by 1 daughter, 3 sons, 15 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. Tony is predeceased by his Josephine, 2 children who passed away at birth, 10 siblings, and his parents Albert and Katherine Moser
Tony was a busy child growing up but he entertained himself at school in the barn one day. He was swinging from the rafters on the backs of the horses in the shed. He missed a rafter and fell and broke his arm. His father and a neighbour took him into the hospital. Tony can remember his father and the doctor haggling over the price of casting his arm awhile Tony had it laying on the cold steel metal table. The doctor wanted to be paid first. It was the neighbour who kindly stepped forward to pay the doctor. Tony's Father did eventually pay the neighbour back, and the arm was casted.
In his later teen years, Tony wanted to attend a dance. The only mode of transportation was a horse. However, when you ride bareback on a horse your pants get dirty so he borrowed a saddle from the neighbour. Tony put on his clean dress pants and put the saddle on the horse. Well, the horse didn’t like the feel of the saddle so he bucked Dad off. It was at that time he broke his leg in many places and it took about 6 months to heal.
Tony in his younger years used to do hunting, fishing, curling, and playing cards with his favorite game being crib. Tony could add and subtract the numbers in his head so fast. Then he would simply smile when your pegs were behind the skunk line and his were at the finish line. Tony was a social person. He loved meeting and talking to strangers for he would always start up a conversation with the person beside him.
Tony enjoyed his family. He always made time for them. I had never heard or seen a man cry until my brother moved his house off the farm. He didn’t like his son’s family to be moving away. It was also this son who ended up giving dad CPR. Dad was working on the septic tank at the farm in the basement. The fumes were too much for dad and he passed out. Terry was lucky enough to be there at the exact time to revive him. Tony was also very faithfully, dedicated to the Catholic church and each Sunday was his passion to be there at Major.
His favorite expression when we came to visit was “You made it, hey”. He was always so glad to see us. We always looked forward to dad greeting us. Tony worked hard on the farm. It was difficult at times to get him off the farm. He also enjoyed doing projects together with mom. They both took us to 4-H meetings, attended farmers union meetings, picked rocks, hauled bales, made rock gardens, wooden forts, and doll houses for the grandchildren, and in their later years they prayed the rosary together. Then it began later in his life when we were leaving. Tony would always thank us for coming and tell us that he loved us! Rest in peace, Tony. We love you as well!
