KERROBERT, Sask. — RCMP are urging residents in and around Kerrobert to lock up and stay alert following a string of break-and-enters reported over the past two weeks.

In a recorded public update, Staff Sgt. Andrews of the local detachment said officers are investigating several incidents of property being accessed during both daytime and nighttime hours, often through unlocked doors, garages and outbuildings.

“We’ve noticed a couple [of incidents] happening during the day,” Andrews said. “Please make sure we’re locking our garages, our doors, and all parts of our property, even during the day.”

While investigators have launched operations in an attempt to identify the suspect or suspects, no arrests have been made at this time.

Andrews said the detachment is continuing proactive measures such as curfew checks on individuals flagged for high-risk property offences and has stepped up patrols in affected areas.

“We’re out there looking to find the suspect and have been creating operations,” he said. “But currently we’re unable to fully identify who is responsible for the recent activity.”

The RCMP is also asking the public to report all suspicious behaviour, no matter how minor it may seem.

“Even if it’s a small property theft — if we don’t know about it, we can’t help you,” said Andrews. “We can’t create operations and we can’t better do our patrols in that area.”

Residents are reminded to call 911 for emergencies or contact the Kerrobert RCMP detachment with any tips or concerns.

“We’re here to try and keep you and your property safe,” Andrews said. “Help us help you.”
