Since opening its doors in September 2023, House of Cars Cochrane has quickly become more than just a dealership—it's become a part of the community.
"We were met with a warm welcome from the get-go," says General Manager Nik Klassen. "From the moment we opened, people were stopping by just to thank us for renovating the building and giving downtown a facelift."
The formerly vacant building, now a bright and bustling dealership, has transformed into a hub of community engagement and local connection. Klassen, who hails from a small town himself, feels right at home in Cochrane's close-knit environment. "There's still that small-town feel here. People wave, they stop to chat. It’s just a great place to be."
Investing in the Community
House of Cars Cochrane didn’t waste time getting involved. From sponsoring local events to supporting initiatives like Bike Cochrane and helping maintain the town’s trail systems, the dealership has committed to being more than just a place to buy a car. "The idea was always to use this business as a vehicle to give back, not just to receive," Klassen explains.
That philosophy has resonated within the community and shaped the dealership's operations. It has also been a catalyst for growth. What began as a team of just a few has blossomed into a 14-person operation, most of them local residents. The location now includes a full-service shop, complete with two technicians and a service advisor, as well as a retail detailing department known for its exceptional work.
Growing with Purpose
"Our detail team does full power polishing, shampooing—the works," says Klassen. "Our goal is that someone looks at one of our used vehicles and says, 'I can't believe this is used.' That's the standard we hold ourselves to."
House of Cars has also become a meeting place for car enthusiasts, hosting events like Cruise Cochrane and Cochrane Classics on the third Thursday of every month. Food vendors and other local groups regularly collaborate with the dealership, further establishing it as a downtown mainstay.
Looking ahead, Klassen is focused on sustainable growth and deeper community engagement. "We want to keep aging like fine wine," he says with a smile. "Every year, we want to be better than the last. We welcome community members to bring us ideas for events or sponsorships. We're here for that."
Changing Perceptions
Above all, Klassen and his team strive to change the narrative around used car dealerships. "We're transparent, honest, and true to our word," he says. "Whether you’re buying a vehicle, calling in, or just walking by, we aim to offer a five-star experience."
For House of Cars Cochrane, success isn’t measured solely by sales—it's about the relationships built and the role they play in making Cochrane an even better place to call home.
