Burstall Fuels in Burstall Sask is known for its welcoming atmosphere and lovable owners. But after owning and operating the store for many years, Darrell and Pam Fitterer are handing over the keys to the business.

The longtime owners announced they have sold the business and plan to relocate to the Kindersley area. Though they’re leaving behind their beloved store, the Fitterer's say they’re confident it’s in good hands.

“They aren't as small town as me, but they want to keep things as much as what they are,” Pam said. “I feel like I can hand the keys over with a smile on my face and not be concerned.”

Originally from Saskatoon and Kindersley, Pam and Darrell moved to Burstall in 2008. Not long after arriving, they began transforming the town’s old gas station into a cozy, welcoming hub filled with fresh baking, hot coffee, and one-of-a-kind collectibles.

With Darrell’s mechanical know-how and Pam’s love of antiques and homemade goods, Burstall Fuels became a local staple. The store offered everything from basic fuel and convenience items to handmade creations from local vendors.

Though ownership is changing, Pam says some traditions will continue, though perhaps with a twist. The 2025 Burstall Fuels Poker Rally will be the last held under the name, but they still plan to be involved in similar events.

“We will definitely be doing some kind of rally, I'm not going to say where from or how it's going to go, we'll leave that up to the squirrels,” she said with a laugh.

Throughout their time in Burstall, the Fitterer's made a point of giving back. Proceeds from their rallies and events have gone toward building a gazebo in Lions Park, supporting the local swimming pool, and sponsoring numerous community initiatives.

For Darrell and Pam, it's not goodbye, just the start of a new route on a well-travelled road.
