Kindersley might feel a little busier with the local rodeo getting underway Thursday, and with the pending increase in street traffic the Kindersley RCMP are putting out a reminder that they will be out in full force while the rodeo is on.

Staff Sgt. Sebastian Andrews shared in a video posted to social media that the detachment will have an extra presence Thursday, Friday, and Saturday as the rodeo festivities take place.

"We want residents and people who are coming to have a good time and enjoy this great event," said Andrews. "But also, with that said we want to keep everyone safe. So please if you are going to drink, have a safe sober driver. If you are coming from a different community, make sure to go the speed limit."

Andrews and other RCMP members from around the region will have a presence at the event and people are encouraged to come say hi. Spend enough time at the rodeo this weekend and you might just connect with them regardless.

"I am giving a warning; we will have (increased traffic officers around the area). All you need to do is go the speed limit, make sure your vehicles are registered, and if you are drinking, you are not driving, and you will be fine and have a safe event."

Andrews doubled down on the importance of police helping keep the event safe. Much like other recent events at the rink, that means check stops will be making a return.

"Expect at night we will probably doing check stops, in and around Kindersley, Kerrobert, and all the areas. This is a warning, this isn't a surprise, this is us making sure you are safe. We would rather prevent an incident than have to use our enforcement measures."

Andrews ended the announcement with another firm reminder that extra police vehicles will be out and about this weekend. Follow the police advice, and you won't turn a good time into a bad memory.
