A unique survey will soon make its way to families and staff in the Seine River School Division (SRSD), as leadership looks to form a multi-year strategic plan.
Colin Campbell, the division's superintendent, says this is no ordinary survey. Rather, it uses a platform called ThoughtExchange, and includes an open-ended question for participants.
Comments are received in real time, Campbell explains, and can be rated using a five-star system. Feedback with the most stars rises to the top of the page. Artificial Intelligence will help analyze data to maximize efficiency.
"It's a unique way for us to find out the things that we are doing well in our school division, and providing education for students, and also where...parents and guardians would like to see some additional pieces," Campbell says.
"This (helps) us to forward plan, and that's kind of the end game."
The feedback will help guide a multi-year strategic plan that the SRSD will start compiling next year. At that time, Campbell says more "thought exchanges" will be introduced.
"You have to start somewhere, and this is the somewhere. We want to collect baseline data with this first exchange," he says, noting now is the perfect time to begin the process.
"The end of the year is a unique time. It's a time to reflect on how things have gone, and things we've liked and things that we would like to see changed and added to providing public education to our students."
Campbell is looking forward to seeing what comes out of the survey.
While there’s no firm deadline for submitting feedback, he notes the form will likely be open for at least a week.
