TURTLEFORD, Sask. — One of Saskatchewan’s most wanted has been arrested after a coordinated interprovincial effort by RCMP units.
Matthew Heidt, previously listed among the province’s top-priority wanted offenders, was taken into custody by Coutts RCMP and is scheduled to appear in court in Turtleford, Sask., on June 9. He faces charges listed under Information #90429990.
Heidt was part of a monthly updated Saskatchewan RCMP list, designed to encourage public tips and prioritize high-risk offenders based on a data-driven Crime Severity Index. The list includes individuals believed to pose significant risk to communities across the province.
“Apprehensions like this reflect the coordinated work of frontline officers and specialized units who operate not only across Saskatchewan, but across provincial borders,” said Supt. Glenn Church, who oversees the Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams (SERT).
In total, four high-profile arrests were made in April and May, including offenders from both inside and outside Saskatchewan:
-
Pierre Andre Bouchard was located by Vancouver Police and returned to Saskatoon on April 17.
-
Jamie Daniel Jude Sheedy was arrested April 13 in the RM of Calder by Esterhazy RCMP.
-
Seagun Laliberte was arrested in Cumberland House on April 16 by RCMP’s Prince Albert Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST).
-
Darius Ryell McNab was taken into custody in Tisdale on May 2 and is due in court on May 20.
As of early May, four new individuals were added to the province’s high-priority list. Among them are two wanted offenders with ties to Saskatchewan’s west-central region:
Brenden Ross Taylor, 34, is wanted on two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference. He may be in Cabri, Swift Current or Edmonton. Taylor is described as 5'10", 149 lbs, with light brown hair and hazel eyes.
James David Troy Richards, 56, also known as Troy Richards, is wanted on a wide range of charges, including aggravated assault, unlawful confinement, uttering threats and impaired driving. He has multiple tattoos — including a skull in a cowboy hat and a grim reaper — and may be in Kindersley, Pinewood, B.C., or Goodfare, Alta.
The RCMP urges the public not to approach or attempt to apprehend any wanted individuals. Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to contact RCMP at 310-RCMP or call 911 in case of an emergency.
The Saskatchewan RCMP Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Teams (WEST), part of the broader SERT initiative, continue to focus enforcement on high-priority offenders. These units rely on intelligence-led policing and work closely with detachments, correctional agencies and municipal forces to carry out arrests and enhance public safety.
Police say they will continue to publish updated lists monthly as part of their commitment to accountability and public engagement in crime prevention efforts.
