Saskatoon is the meeting site for Monday's "first ministers" gathering between Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Canada's premiers.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe shared a post to social media late Sunday welcoming the visiting leaders into the prairie province, saying that Monday's discussions will be surrounding policies that can enact change and help move the province and country forward together.

In an accompanying video, Moe opened his address by stating that Saskatchewan leads in job growth, GDP growth, trade, low unemployment rates and high home building rates, before going into why he feels policy has played a strong role in those statistics.

"(Policies matter), and that is why I am so excited to welcome all of Canada's premiers and Prime Minister Mark Carney to beautiful Saskatoon where we will be discussing which of those policies need to shift in order to make our provinces, and all of the provinces, stronger, and ultimately our country."

With so much talk about turning Canada into an "energy superpower", Moe feels there is no better place than Saskatchewan to table those discussions.

"Canada needs policies that will develop and grow Saskatchewan's oil industry, our electricity industry, our mining industry including uranium and other critical minerals. A stronger Saskatchewan, and stronger provinces, mean a stronger nation of Canada. Now let's get to work." finished Moe.

This will be the first in person meeting between premiers since the federal election.
