The organizer behind the proposed Kindersley All-Wheel Skate Park are calling on community members to help move the long-awaited project into its next phase.

A public meeting will be held June 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Elks Hall to form a committee focused on fundraising, grant applications and event planning.

Tyrone Kennedy-Bush, who has been advocating for the project for several years, says the meeting is a key step toward turning the vision into reality.

“The goal is to bring people together who want to help get this park built,” he said. “We’re looking for anyone who can support with organizing or fundraising, people who care about giving kids and families a space to be active and have fun.”

The park will be located beside the existing dog park between Ditson Drive and the road to the golf course. Kennedy-Bush said the location was chosen deliberately to ensure the park is open, accessible and integrated into the community.

“Skate parks used to be built out of the way, in back corners,” he said. “But when you put these parks out in the open, they become community spaces. It’s not about getting into trouble, it’s about getting outside, playing, building confidence.”

The project is being planned in three phases: the first two will construct the skate park itself in halves, while the third will add a family area, lighting and enhancements to the surrounding green space. The park is designed as an “all-wheel” facility, accommodating skateboards, scooters, bikes and even wheelchairs.

“This isn’t just a slab of cement,” Kennedy-Bush said. “We want it to be artistic, accessible and useful year-round, a place where kids can toboggan in the winter or just hang out after school.”

Donations for the project can be made directly through the Town of Kindersley. More information is available on the Kindersley All-Wheel Skate Park Facebook page and the town’s official website.

“Hopefully, with enough support at the meeting, we can form a committee and take this all the way to the finish line,” Kennedy-Bush said.
