A SaskPower executive has been recognized nationally as one of six recipients of Electricity Canada’s 2025 “Faces of the Industry” award, as part of National Electricity Month celebrations this June.
Dan Irvine, SaskPower’s Director of Procurement and Contracts, is being honoured for transforming the utility’s procurement strategy by prioritizing local and Indigenous suppliers, helping grow Saskatchewan’s domestic supply chain and positioning it for national success.
The award, now in its second year, highlights leadership and innovation across the Canadian electricity sector. Electricity Canada, the national association representing companies that generate, transmit and distribute power, created the award to celebrate individuals driving meaningful change in the industry.
“Dan Irvine’s passion lies in helping grow supplier capacity,” said Howard Matthews, Vice-President of Generation at SaskPower. “Many Saskatchewan businesses have landed their first major contracts thanks to his efforts—and are now competing and winning work across the country.”
The 2025 award winners span six provinces and various disciplines, from executive leadership to technical innovation. Other recipients include Jennifer Williams of Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, Sandra Haskins of Capital Power, Jeffrey Laninga of Manitoba Hydro, Joy Brake of Nova Scotia Power, and Mohamed ElNozahy of Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator.
Irvine and his fellow honourees will be profiled throughout the month of June in a national social media campaign by Electricity Canada.
National Electricity Month celebrates the importance of the sector and the people behind Canada’s power systems.
