Board Chair Audrey Harder says Summer in the City Is a place where the whole community comes together
Categories

A festival for all ages and backgrounds

Summer in the City is back June 13-15, and it’s bigger than ever, transforming downtown Steinbach into a lively celebration of Southeast Manitoba's culture, heritage, and artistic spirit. With no admission fee, a wide variety of free attractions, and something for every age group, this annual event has become the region’s most anticipated summer festival.

“It’s a place where the whole community comes together,” enthuses board chair Audrey Harder. “You’ll find music, food, art, and fun – there’s truly something for everyone.”

Main Street comes alive

Main Street will be closed to traffic and filled with the sounds, sights, and tastes of the Southeast. Local talent takes to the main stage for free afternoon concerts on Friday and Saturday, while ticketed headliner shows on Friday and Saturday night promise big-name entertainment and a high-energy atmosphere.

Tickets can be purchased in person at the Pat Porter Active Living Centre or online at www.summerinthecity.ca!

From foam parties to folk art

The festival has something for everyone. Kids in the City offers activities like crafts, a foam party, and a magic show, while parents can take a moment to rest in the Family Tent. Street Arts in the City features skateboarding, dance battles, and graffiti art, while Artists in the City invites you to engage with local creators or take home a handmade piece.

Over at Cultures in the City, visitors can sample global cuisines and enjoy performances representing the diverse communities of Southeast Manitoba. Meanwhile, Heritage in the City, presented by the Mennonite Heritage Village, showcases the area’s roots, complete with the museum’s famously delicious heart-shaped waffles and white sauce.

Community and connection

Whether you're in the mood for a high-energy concert or table games and coffee in the Seniors in the City tent, Summer in the City celebrates every generation. Sunday brings Worship in the City, a collective service from local churches, followed by an afternoon of entertainment.

Don't miss the festival’s kickoff with a free pancake breakfast on Friday morning, hosted by SCU.

Know before you go

Accessible parking is available at the Southeast Event Centre. Portable washrooms and handwashing stations are located on the street by the MainStage and at both ends of Main Street.
