Country 107 loves to highlight the great things happening in our community — and the incredible people doing them. Like Caitlin Penner, The Tiny Baker from Sarto. She joined the Country 107 Morning Show served up by A&W Steinbach, where she dished out more than just baking tips.

The 17-year-old answered rapid-fire questions about sprinkles, stand mixers, and the secret to the perfect cookie — revealing that gooey chocolate centres are her not-so-secret weapon. From fresh bread over cookies, to early morning baking sessions and a deep love for her stand mixer, Penner’s passion for baking is clear.

Despite her age, Penner runs a growing home-based baking business known for giant cookies, pies, brownies, and cinnamon buns. She started baking for fun, but her skills and creativity quickly turned into something bigger. Asked what music fuels her baking sessions, she listed everything from worship to indie rock. She says she started prepping for this event days ago, balancing a tight schedule as she bakes, boxes, and prepares dozens of treats for a cause close to her heart.

Penner is organizing a bake sale fundraiser on Friday, June 6, at Clearspring Centre in Steinbach. The event is in support of Andrew and Lena Friesen, a couple she came to know when Lena trained her as the baker started a new job. Andrew is currently in critical care battling a life-threatening heart condition. She says the family is without income and facing mounting travel, parking, and living costs while Lena juggles hospital visits and raising five children.

“I felt God come into my heart and tell me this is something I can use my gift of baking for,” said Penner.

Her bake sale will run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. or until sold out. A donation box and card-writing station will also be set up for those who want to offer words of encouragement or financial support. Anyone unable to attend in person can reach out to The Tiny Baker on social media to make a donation.

A big shout out to Caitlin Penner, The Tiny Baker, for reminding us how powerful it can be when we use our gifts to help others.
