The Unity Cardinals are off to a 6-1 start in the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League. The team has done it all without a true home game, playing their home half of the schedule out of Wilkie for at least the regular season, with Cardinal diamond under construction.
A big weekend is ahead for the ball diamond in the middle of a complete transformation. They are turfing the field all weekend long, and anyone interested in helping out can check out the story below.

Taking a break from the turfing on Thursday to share more on the Cardinals season was player and team contact Cory Wildeman. The team hopes to be back in Unity by the NSRBL playoffs, but for the time being will remain in Wilkie playing games out of the regional park.
Wildeman shared that not only are they playing on Wilkie's diamond, but they had a few players exchange their Brewers colours for Cardinal red.
"We've got Kayden Cey," said Wildeman, a more than solid addition as Cey is coming off a college season down south where he put up stellar numbers in 45 games played.
Kayden isn't the only Cey who joined the Cardinals.
"Rob Cey too. He's a Wilkie Brewer, he does live in Unity, but he's playing with us this year."
Another reason the Cey's are in the cards has to do with the fact that the hometown Brewers were unable to field a team this year.
The Cardinals are a thankful bunch but understand how hard it must be for Wilkie to be without their home team in 2025.
"From the Cardinals standpoint we were definitely welcoming them two players... but it wasn't an easy decision for the Brewers for sure. I know Rob was a little disappointed, but not much you can do, just not enough players to put a team together."
The Brewers will no doubt eventually be back in some capacity with such a rich history of baseball in Wilkie. But for now, they are teaming up with a rival, the Brewers and Cards putting down their dukes to continue a harmonious relationship that has the West Central NSRBL team sitting in first place.
