A clothing drive will be held Saturday, June 7, to support individuals displaced by wildfires. Donations can be dropped off at the Elks Hall in Kindersley between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Organizers are asking for new or gently used, clean clothing and shoes, as well as new socks and underwear.
The West Central Crisis Centre, located at 105 Colton Dr., is also collecting items to support evacuees. The organization is seeking donations that can help keep children occupied, such as games, puzzles, colouring books, crayons and other toys. Items can be dropped off at the centre on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
FoodMesh Kindersley offers free groceries to those in need on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m. The program operates out of the Kindersley Christian Fellowship Church, located at 800 12th Ave. E.
Multiple local Fire Departments have stepped in to help fight the northern wildfires. The Kindersley Fire Department has two crews on standby, each comprised of four members, prepared to assist with wildfire response efforts. The teams are equipped with a Class A pumper truck and a tender, providing a combined water capacity of 5,500 gallons.
The North Battleford Fire Department deployed a team of six firefighters, The team departed June 3, deploying with an engine truck, command unit, and an all-terrain side-by-side.

A reminder that you cannot be support by both services, and which service you go through is dependent on the community you are in.
If you are a wildfire evacuee in another area and have not registered with the SPSA or Red Cross, please call 1-800-863-6582. Only one member of a family needs to register. Support provided by the Canadian Red Cross includes information, emergency accommodations, meals and personal services.
