The Strathmore Farmers' Market celebrates its 30th summer season.
The local event kicks off Friday (June 6) from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m at the Kinsmen Park Pavilion. The opening day will feature local vendors, as well as coffee and cake for shoppers.
"It's a struggle for most markets in a lot of areas, but the fact that we made it this long is absolutely amazing and just shows what great community we have," explained market manager Tracy Yochim, reflecting on the milestone.
"The people before us really did some good work in making this market the success it is today."
The market hosts approximately 25 to 35 vendors selling local produce and handcrafted goods. The market will present some special event days, and children's activities are planned throughout the season to encourage community involvement.
"I really love the vendors," Yochim explained. "Some of them have been with the market for longer than I've been the manager."
Yochim has been helping the market as the manager for over a decade.
The event will run every Friday from June 6 to Sept. 19.
"I think people appreciate the hard work that goes into making or growing all the wonderful stuff that we have at the market," Yochim said. "This year we've got a lot of stuffed planned for the summer, and we're hoping that community comes out and joins in with us and has some fun and shop local."
