Hanover Ag held its annual Spring Twist off event tonight in Grunthal, and the stands were full.
Hanover Ag Society President Curtis Dawydiuk says that this event couldn’t have happened without its volunteers.
“We have a great team here. There's always, you know, a need for more help and the work gets easier the more people that are here.”
Volunteers coordinated an exciting event for the whole family.
“We are a nonprofit. We don't get anything out of it other than smiles on kids' faces.”
Dawydiuk says that it is amazing to put on an event that brings in people from all across Canada.
“It means the world, you know, it's a great organization, put on great community events, with regional reach here in everything we do. We've got bull riders coming from across Canada.”
Dawydiuk also notes how great it is to highlight Grunthal.
“It's almost like a hidden gem, you know, Grunthal is a very cool community. We got one of the best motocross tracks in the country and we got one of the best rodeo bull riding facilities here.”
As the sport grows, many new watchers are pulled in.
“There's a very strong following nowadays, but there's still always somebody new and you know, it's fun to explain to people that it is a ‘safe, extreme sport’. You know, these bull riders are trained. The stock is raised for this intent. There's no harm. Yeah, they love what they do.”
Though this event breaks people into bull riding or refreshes memories, the Hanover Ag fair is their main event. This event is coming up from August 14th to 17th.
