The pickup truck collided with the back end of an eastbound semi on Highway 1
Categories

The Tache Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 1 and Provincial Road 206 around 1 p.m. Sunday.

Fire Chief Allan Rau says the pickup truck was crossing Highway 1 when it was unsafe to do so, and it struck the back end of an eastbound semi-trailer.

“It could have been nasty, but luckily it just hit the engine compartment of the pickup truck. The occupants of the pickup truck self-extricated as well as the semi operator, nothing happened to him. We just waited for EMS for them to get checked over and nobody was transported. No flames, no smoke, we got the vehicle towed away, and we opened up the one lane in traffic eastbound as quickly as we could.”

Rau says his crews were on scene for about 40 minutes before they were able to fully open the highway and head back to the station.
