A Hazlet man will be spending the next two years in a provincial correctional centre after his sentencing last week on a trio of weapons charges stemming from a substantial methamphetamine and weapons bust last fall.
Alexander Lindquist appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court last Wednesday, where he pleaded guilty to and was sentenced on the following charges;
Possession of a firearm without authorization, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, and careless storage of a firearm.
In addition to a two-year prison sentence, the 26-year-old was given a decade-long weapons prohibition, a forfeiture order, and was ordered to provide a DNA sample.
Crown prosecutor Curtis Wiebe shared that the resolution was an agreement that considered the accused's acknowledgement of the offences, his guilty pleas rather than a trial, the seriousness of the offences, and his minimal criminal record.
Additional charges against Lindquist were stayed.
On the afternoon of September 24, Swift Current Municipal RCMP and the Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team partnered to execute a search warrant at a commercial dwelling unit on the North Service Road West.
Police recovered significant amounts of methamphetamine, a machete, a sawed-off rifle, and a sum of Canadian money, arresting five individuals at the scene.
Two of the four individuals charged in the incident, Zachery Hunter and Klyrissa Johnson, have already been sentenced. While, the matters for Brandon Stotz are still in court, with his next appearance scheduled for June 18.
