Saskatchewan continues to have some of the lowest rental prices in the country, despite a recent uptick in asking rates.
The average rent in Saskatchewan in May was $1,386, well below the national average of $2,129, according to data released this month. The province had the lowest average among western provinces, with Manitoba at $1,624 and Alberta at $1,745.
While prices in Saskatchewan remain relatively low, the province saw the largest month-over-month increase in asking rents, rising by 3.9 per cent. By comparison, Alberta saw a decrease of 2.4 per cent over the same period.
Nationally, rent prices dropped 3.3 per cent in May.
Among Canadian cities, Regina and Saskatoon ranked 55th and 56th respectively for average asking prices on one- and two-bedroom rentals. Regina’s average was $1,262, with Saskatoon just behind at $1,255. Lloydminster ranked 59th with an average of $1,077.
