Tyrrell Riding Academy held a special benefit event over the weekend.
On Saturday (June 7) dozens of riders made it out to the academy to take part in the event, which was raising funds for local rider Jessica Fuchs.
Fuchs had just moved into her first home when it was burned down in a fire.
"It was only two days into moving in when it happened," said Fuchs. "It was pretty sad."
After losing their home, the Reinhardt family took Fuchs and her boyfriend in, giving them a place to rent while they save up for a new place.
The benefit event featured a raffle, a potluck, and prizes for the riders, with proceeds from the event going towards Fuchs' new home.
"You kind of just have to move through it. You can't be sad about it for too long, because then it takes over fun stuff in your life, and you can't let that get to you," added Fuchs.
"It's so awesome. Just the community getting together and being supportive. It's so thoughtful of them, and they don't have to do that. They take time out of their day to help somebody."
Living in Strathmore for most of her life, Fuchs joined Tyrrell Riding Academy just over a year ago.
"It really means a lot to me coming here as a new person. Just seeing how many people can care about you is crazy. No matter who you are, Tyrrell will help you out and include you. It's like a family here."
