Bubble Tea Brewers celebrated their 2-year anniversary as a business.
The Strathmore tea shop officially turned two on Sunday (June 8). To mark this accomplishment, the shop handed out free watermelon drinks and gave customers a chance to win a $25 gift card by spinning a prize wheel. A new banner was also featured for customers to write messages on.
"It's a great milestone for us," said Archel Alfar, owner of Bubble Tea Brewers. Her passion for bubble tea and her Filipino heritage led her to her role in the franchise.
Alfar also co-runs Happy Burp, a small sushi kitchen inside the bubble tea shop.
While the brewery will remain in its current location, Happy Burp is relocating to another building that includes a dining area. the partners plan to expand the menu to include ramen and rice bowls.
"My goal is to join the Stampede," Alfar added, referring to her hopes of selling her drinks at the event as the business' next milestone.
Taro remains as the most popular flavour among customers.
Bubble Tea Brewers also have shop locations in Airdrie and Calgary.
